Embarcadero Wine & Oyster Bar

The Embarcadero has consistently been one of my favourites. Situated at the end of 17th across from the casino, it is also a good place to go if you are going to or coming back from an event at the Saddledome. Located in a converted two story home it is decorated in lovely dark wood and antique looking items and local art. The lounge is on the main floor and the restaurant on the top. The menus are the same although the lounge has more seating. The stairs are steep so if dining with an elderly guest, the lounge would be a better choice. I usually come here with a larger group and we always get the same appetizers to start: Oysters Embarcadero and Oysters Florentine. Both are generously portioned, cooked perfectly and very flavourful. For the entrée I usually have a pasta; sautéed prawns, scallops and mussels with julienne vegetables in a lobster and crayfish bisque is one of there mainstays and is always delicious. Some other dishes that I have enjoyed: seafood salad, lemon pepper chicken spinach and tiger prawn pasta tossed in a pumpkinseed pesto cream sauce, and the salmon filet with mandarin orange and brandy sauce. They also have a very good selection of seasonal raw oysters. Although mainly a seafood restaurant, the menu is perfect for pickier guests as it has a whole section of “wings and casual fare”, consisting of items such as burgers and mozzarella sticks. The service here is also very good, and I came here with a guest who is allergic to shellfish and they were very accommodating to him. The delicious food and friendly staff will keep me coming back.
