Another Good "Local" Spot
You about have to “know where it is” to find it! Fat Jacks has been there for years but it’s in what I call “strip mall” kind of hidden in the middle of a string of businesses on the left if going “out” S. Florida Ave… If you’re flying down the road and not paying attention, you’ll have to turn around and try again! We’ve passed it for years on the way to other places, had heard it’s jam packed with locals, sometimes “politicians & other celebrities” and be prepared to wait. If there were any “pols or celebs” in there, they were “incognito”…anyway, It’s got some of that older, local-diner type atmosphere – not ready for “prime time high class” label – just good stuff! We were seated and served in reasonable amount of time.
Dishes Tried:
Hamburger/Fries
When in doubt, “do” a burger – we both went with that and were pleased, not overcooked, “dressed” the way we like (with the “toppings on top” not underneath getting soggy).
I’d read a review in the Ledger a long time ago about “lox and onion omelette” — will have to try that next time! I’m a big “lox-fan”
