Filippa's Wine Barrel

My family of 6 went to Flippas for the first time on Saturday night at 7pm. We were sitted right away with a reservation. But then it went downhill. We didn’t see a waitress for 10 minutes. Then they brought us bread and no napkins or silverware. We asked the waitress, 8 minutes later went to the hostess both and they didn’t have any and never directed us to anyone that could help.
So we order our dinner. Waitress comes back 5-10 mins later, out of our favorite soup. Kids meals come out 20 minutes later, our meals come out 20 minutes after that. After we notice people next to us that received there meal before us that sat after us. So at the end of the meal I approached the managers standing at the front. I started with the positive and then proceeded to tell them what happened. Instead of apologizing she begins to say "let me address each of your items. Making excuses and stating they had 2 large parties that were more important. Never said sorry or offered a free dessert, nothing! First and last time I will ever go there! So disappointed. Food was decent though.

What a wonderful experience we had at dinner while dining at Filippa’s Wine Barrel in Macomb County. The entire dining experience was wonderful, from the greeting by the hostess to the delicious meals. The Chicken Baci and the New York Strip Steak were to die for. We really enjoyed the atmosphere with the fireplace and high backed booths. Another bonus to the night was the complementary picture and cannoli we received because of celebrating our anniversary there. Overall it was a very enjoyable evening and I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Filipa’s was always my favorite restaurant. I began going there with my parents when I was young. My dad had many of our company parties there. It was always a good place to go for a special occasion.
My wife and I went to Filipa’s for our anniversary recently. It was very sad to see how the service had gone down hill. The food was good but I can get surf & turf anywhere that would have been just as good.
We ordered a bottle of wine. It took forever to get our wine. We had to ask to order a appetizer. We never received our bread basket. The entree took forever to come out. It just didn’t make for a pleasant experience.
We mentioned the poor service to the hostess on the way out. She had the manager on duty speak to us. She apologized and tried to give us a gift card which we did not accept.
I wrote a letter to Rob Fiore who is one of the owners to let him know how poor our service had been. It’s been two weeks now and I’ve never gotten a reply. I guess they don’t care enough about long time loyal customers to get back with them so I guess I’m done with Filipa’s Wine Barrel.
I’ve spoken with others who feel the same way. Filipa’s just doesn’t have the charm it used to have. It’s too bad. It was a nice dining experience at one time.

It’s been around for quite a while, they have great food and good service
