Houlihan's

Houli’s may not be the best in Springfield, but for being a close second, it tries really hard! If you’ve read some of my other reviews, you’re aware that when I know the restaurant’s a big box, a dime a dozen in the region, or a national chain, I cringe at the inevitable industrial-strength kitchens, automaton staff, factory-like dish production, over-the-top and get-your-attention outrageous advertising and very impersonal or hyped-up ambience! That philosophy of mine does not hold water at least at this Houlihan’s… my wife and I have found almost everything on this menu to be tasty, well prepared and of the best products available. So much so, that many times we cannot order a full meal because the starters are meals unto themselves, and filling enough to make the meal complete. You’ve got to try their Brentwood Chicken Sandwich, Baked Potato Soup and the Shrooms – WOW! Really good! Their bar and rail drinks are well put together. Unfortunately, like any second tier eatery, the service is very inconsistent, sometimes great, sometimes lousy – and apparently, it does not matter that this Houli’s is in a Hilton! No matter, my wife and I continue to go because overall, it continuously is one of the better eat joints in Springfield. Bon appétit!
