our favorite!
This restaurant is our favorite. We have eaten in some very fine restaurants in much larger cities. Julianos dinner menu changes monthly, always with a variety of delicious and different entrees and desserts. Dinner prices run from about $16 – 26, desserts about $5. Many locals seem to think it expensive, but it is the same as or less than the other nicer restaurants in the area, with a pleasant, quiet atmosphere and friendly and knowledgable staff. Reservations are recommended. This is Montana, so even in the biggest city in the state, dress is generally casual. You will see some levis, although a nice shirt and slacks for the men (there may be some suits and ties, but it’s not necessary) and slacks or skirt and top for women are the norm. Local produce and meats are used in season. The freshly baked bread is wonderful, and a piece of complimentary sushi (no raw fish) is a small appetizer. Dinner portions are generous, even for Montana, and especially compared to those in most other cities. DO save room for dessert. We try to get there at least once a month, because the changing menu offers so many outstanding dishes from which to choose. It if difficult and expensive to get a full liquor license in Montana, so only beer and wine are available, but don’t let that stop you. There are many places to get a drink, but few with anywhere near the food you’ll find here!

WORST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER!!!
First, of all the waitresses there must really hate life. Our waitress, the 50 some year old with pulled back hair and glasses seemed as if she hated serving the publice. After telling her it was our first visit and if she could explain the menu, she said “What do you want to know” in a very annoying manner. After explaining the “Petite and Prawns” was a filet, my wife ordred this dish and asked for the heads to be removed and for her steak to be medium rare. Her dish came out, heads still attached, and her steak was cooked well done. However, we could not state our dissatisfaction with the way the steak was cooked, because this waitress never came to check on us until she delivered the check. I had to go to the restroom, and while I was inside waiting to use the restroom, my wife had expressed her displeasure in the steak to the waitress. While inside, with the open kitchen, I heard her state the following “the lady said her steak was over cooked and she doesn’t want it”. The cook and owner/Karl stated “what the F…K, it is a F…K..G london broil”. The waitress then said “it is exactly what I F…K..G told her”. It was amazing that this language was being used by the Chef/Owner and his employee. But there is no wonder that it as been 10 to 15 years since any award of significance has been given to this place. If you want to spend $50 to $100 a couple for a great dinner—-GO TO THE MT RIB AND CHOP OR JAKES OR ENZO’S OR ANY NUMBER OF PLACES AS YOU WILL WASTE YOUR MONEY GOING TO JULIANO’S.

If I wasn’t so mad, I would have asked for a doggy bag as that is all it was fit for——if you wanted to punish your dog.
