Gorgeous venue; food was cold.

What a gorgeous spot to have a restaurant! The interior is amazing and provides lots of atmosphere for a very popular restaurant. Came for fun with friends — wait staff was very accommodating and attentive.

French Toast

Well, it probably would have been good if it was hot. Very disappointing! The restaurant was not terribly busy and our group not that large (6) so it is unclear why the french toast seemed like it was taken from the refrigerator on the way to the table.

Brunch at Kindred

Enjoyed a very delicious brunch at Kindred. It is located on the 1st floor of a quaint, old cream city brick building in Bay View. The upper floors are apts for Airbnb rentals. If it wasn’t so hot outside, I would have liked to dine on the outside patio, overlooking Kinnickinnic Ave.

There were 6 in my party. We were seated at a round table, which made it extremely easy for everyone to participate in casual conversation. I especially liked that our server offered to provide separate checks for each of us, even though the restaurant generally limits separate checks to 4 per group.

Everyone was pleased with their entree. Three of us had the mushroom omelette. The others had avocado toast, salmon benedict (with home made biscuit), and johnny cakes & gravy.

mushroom omelette

My mushroom omelette was delicious. It was fluffy & moist. It was filled with mushrooms, dried tomatoes, & sauteed onions. It was accompanied with a side of fresh greens. And a small dollop of sour cream topped the omelette.

Warm vibe, good food

Went to Kindred with a group of fellow diners. When I walked into the front door, I loved the look of the dining room with the long community table, black velvet chairs and warm lighting. I stopped at the bar for a drink first and the bartender helped guide me to the perfect drink, the Rosemary. Our group was seated at the large community table (there were other smaller tables, too), and our server was helpful and attentive, but not overbearing. The food came out of the kitchen hot, and at a good pace. I really loved the vibe of Kindred and will definitely go back.

edam cheese croquettes

Not your ordinary fried cheese – and came with two dipping sauces. Very good.

No skimping on the ingredients piled on this dish, and duck confit. Need I say more?! Delicious!
