Best Pastrami, Corned Beef and Tongue Sandwiches

If you feel the need to complain about money problems or rising costs of the world around us and wanted some sympathetic ears, Label’s Table Deli in West LA boasts as many old Jews as a New York Bagel shop. Typically, the restaurant is filled with people over the age of 65. From time to time you see some young people and working people in the area who have discovered what I’ve known about since I was a small child. Label’s Table has THE BEST Pastrami Sandwiches, Corned Beef Sandwiches and Tongue Sandwiches (if you’re willing to take the chance). I personally love Tongue… “insert disgusting joke here” (use you’re imagination)

All the sandwiches come on rye bread unless you ask for something else. Most come with mustard, but if you want mayo, tomatoes, onions, lettuce or anything else just ask. Besides having the best tasting Pastrami, Corned Beef and Tongue they pile it on the sandwich. You typically can make two sandwiches out of the meat they provide in one. So if you’re not a big eater ask for two extra pieces of bread, pull some of the meat out and you have another sandwich for later. What adds to the value is that these sandwiches are cheaper than the clientele that visit the deli. All the sandwiches are $7.50, except for the Tongue which is $8.95. These sandwiches also come with the best deli pickles I’ve ever had. I also recommend the cole slaw, macaroni salad and the matzo ball/chicken soup.

I must forewarn you however. While I absolutely love the sandwiches at Label’s Tables and would chose it over any other deli in the city for “these” types of sandwiches the restaurants isn’t… How do I put it? It’s kind of a dump. The tables and chairs are old and crappy… the places just looks bad. It’s like a sleep-away camp cafeteria. It’s really bad inside and kinda embarrassing to bring someone to. But the sandwiches are worth it. So if you don’t like the vibe, the gross dining room or old jews just get a Pastrami or Corned Beef sandwich togo.
