favorite chicago deep dish

after trying gino’s, giordano’s, and uno’s, lou malnati’s continues to be my favorite chicago deep dish pizzeria. there’s something about the buttery, greasy, crispy crust that gets me everytime.

The rest of Lou - those are tomatoes, not pepperonis - The "Lou" - A great pizza at a good price! at Lou Malnati's Pizzeria

I LOVE Lou Malnati’s thin crust pizza! Deep dish is so-so. The reason why I love their thin crust is because of the crust! Taste sooo good!!! Oh man I am craving it right now!!! =)

Well, I must confess. It did not live up to the superhype that the restaurant was given. It was good, but Pizza Papalis in Greektown is still better. Maybe it is because I am more used to Pizza Papalis, maybe it is because of the spices, I am not sure, or maybe I just had it built up too much. Overall the service was good, the food was good but next time I am in Chicago, I will probably try Giordano’s.

Lou’s pizza is pretty good, but it’s not my favorite chicago deep dish (i like edwardo’s). I’m not a fan of Lou’s crust…it seems sort of dry or tasteless. It’s hard to describe, it just seems lacking. That being said, I wouldn’t turn it down :)

Best deep dish pizza

After trying deep dish pizza from numerous restaurants in Chicago and even in SoCal, the best is still Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria. Lou Malnati opened his first location on March 17, 1971 and now has 38 locations in the Chicagoland area. The location closest to our hotel was the on Wells Street. I had been to this location back in 2012 and loved the bustling atmosphere.

Calamari Fritti

The batter was a little heavy (would be great on fried chicken), but crispy. The calamari was cooked perfectly and not rubbery. The marinara sauce added a sweet, tanginess to balance with the salty, spicy batter.

Deep Dish Cheese & Pepperoni Pizza

We ordered a Pepperoni Deep Dish Pizza with olives and butter crust. The crust was crispy and buttery. The pizza was full of gooey mozzarella cheese. The sauce was mild, but brought all of the ingredients together. The pepperoni and olive combination is onolicious! Their pepperoni is more like salami versus the pepperoni that you would traditionally get on a regular pizza. The taste hasn’t change since my first Lou Malnati’s Deep Dish Pizza in 2007. You can taste every ingredient. It’s truly amazing!

Tiramisu

We ended our meal with the Tiramisu. It had great espresso flavor. The mascarpone was creamy and light. I loved the touch of chocolate sauce and chocolate chips!

We were visiting from out of state, and wanted a true chicago deep dish pizza experience.\r \r Our friends suggested we come here, as it's their flagship store, and as well as Ginos, and Giordanos, supposed to be one of the most authentic…

The place is also clean, which is a plus factor

When it comes to affordability and customer service, this probably has an edge above other pizza chains. The place is also clean, which is a plus factor.
