Cozy dinner for two, a fun place to gather
We had dinner at Loxley’s. We were seated in a cozy room, and found the ambience charming, rustic, and comfortable with a Sherwood Forest/English countryside atmosphere. The menu provided plenty of choices, and was not overwhelming, with several signature dishes that all sounded quite appealing. The food was very good, not over seasoned, simple sauces, and nice presentation. Pricing was pretty accurate for the food, though the portions on apps could be a little larger. Our service was average, a little slow, but adequate. I only had a few minor complaints: no small plates placed for our appetizer, our entrees were offered to 2 other tables before the server found us, and the cinnamon butter offered with my entree (to top a baked sweet potato)was nearly frozen. Despite these small issues, we left satisfied and pleased with our experience overall, and plan to go back again, especially in summer when we can take advantage of the outside deck seating.
Dishes Tried:
parmesan artichokes
Artichoke hearts lightly breaded with parmesan cheese and crumbs fried golden brown, served with aioli. Tasty, not too heavy, but only 8 pieces on the plate, each a quarter heart.
8 oz Sirloin
I was really pleased with this dish. The tender cut was cooked nicely, med-rare as requested, and topped with a light demi and a stack of crispy onion strips. Served with a baked sweet potato and sauteed brussel sprout leaves with pancetta which were delicious (though some may consider the pancetta a little too salty). Pretty presentation, and nice portions. Could have been a little warmer, and the brown sugar butter would have been better if it wasn’t ice cold and hard.
