At the time of writing, this restaurant is new in Brantford and perhaps has only been open a week or so. My son, wife and I tried it out for a late supper around 9pm.
Inside, the place looks fresh and new but nothing drastically changed from when it was Kelsey’s. We were delighted to see that there were many empty tables because the parking lot was pretty full when we pulled in. Like any new establishment, there was lots of staff running around with little clue of what was going on. We were told to have a drink at the bar and that our table wouldn’t be long which was confusing because there were lots of empty tables.
The first thing we noticed was the volume level of the place was almost ear shattering. The music was up so loud that the patrons were talking louder to overcome it. I felt like I was having dinner at a dance club, having to shout across the table and point my ear at my wife just to be able to hear her.
Our waitress was fantastic however. She didn’t fawn all over us but was there constantly, refilling drinks and asking how things were. They offer for free, an endless supply of tortilla chips and salsa as sort of an appetizer while you wait for your food. Which was good because we did just that WAIT FOR OUR FOOD. From the time we ordered to the time it arrived was almost 35 mins or so.
I was expecting something exciting and different from the menu but found very little from the menu. Everything seemed to be served with these pork style beans that had the same appearance as dog food. My dish was a taco dish of which only 1 taco came on the plate. The kitchen was nice to have plunked my taco right in the middle of my plate which got covered with the sloppy pork and beans.
My son ordered the Chicken Fajita plate and there was hardly enough chicken in it to make two fajitas. The cold condiments were not separated and just plunked all together in one bowl like a salad which made things difficult.
Overall, this place is an expensive version of Taco Bell. We’re saving our money and ear drums and probably won’t return.
I give the place 6 months, a year at best.
