Montreal-Style Deli Comes to NY--Mile End Sandwich
Have a good lamb sandwich lately? Try the one at Mile End Sandwich in Brooklyn. This is a spin-off of a Montreal-style deli in Boerum Hill. The standards are available such as a sterling house-cured smoked meat sandwich, the Canadian equivalent to pastrami, or new items like Beef on Weck with warm roast beef on a German roll, which looks like a pretzel.
The smoked lamb sausage is what really got me hooked. It is dressed with eggplant puree and harissa sauce. The lamb is incredible served on a zatar-dusted roll. It’s Middle Eastern cuisine served with Montreal flair. It’s definitely a highlight of the place.
Breakfast is amazingly busy. Try the Breakfast Burger. It may be a bit steep at $12 but you can’t go wrong with veal sausage, easy egg, Quebec cheddar, apple butter, and maple syrup on an english muffin.
Poutine is a Canadian dish of fries served with cheese curds and gravy. I really feel in love with this combination. The classic is what was mentioned or you can add smoked meat to it for extra money. either way makes for an amazing treat.
Mile End Sandwich is a popular sandwich deli that opens from 10am to 10pm daily. If you are looking for a good sandwich, look no further than this place.
