Popular place, ok food

This place was quite busy when we were there. There are a few different seating areas and we had to sit on the lower level. It was pretty empty in that spot, which was nice. It made it easy to talk.

They do have regular live bands that come in on the weekends.

And they have an outdoor seating area in the summer. It’s right on the Milwaukee River – not a place I would go swimming, though. But it’s nice to be able to enjoy a Milwaukee summer.

The food is ok. The menu isn’t anything spectacular though.

Chicken Strips

These were ok chicken strips. Honestly, I can make the same thing for a lot cheaper.

Great Food

This restaurant is a great summertime bar/restaurant. The outdoor seating is right on the river and is beautiful for sitting outside. The food is good as well. They are very accomodating for large groups.

Good crowd, not so good food

The Milwaukee Ale House is a great place to see and be seen. It’s prime locaiton on the river makes it ideal in the summer as it has a very small outdoor seating section. And there are live bands that play regularly on the weekends. Unfortunately, i don’t think the food is all that great. There’s nothing special about their food. It’s plain and a bit expensive for what you get.

Great place, boring food

After our river cruise on the Iroquois, we wandered along the riverfront and decided to give the Ale House one more try. It was a mistake the first time we tried it and it was a mistake this time too… we should have stopped next door at Water Buffalo instead.

Slow Cooked BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich

Very unexciting. Barbeque sauce was nondescript, pork had no flavor, can’t figure out why they call it “asian” slaw (cabbage with some sort of no-taste dressing), bleu cheese potato salad with such an insignificant amount of bleu cheese that you couldn’t taste it. Correct me if I’m wrong but if you order something with bleu cheese, you like strong flavors… so don’t be shy and bring it on!

PS. Not being sarcastic, but the lemonade was very good.

Roma Sandwich Melt

Huh. What to say about this one. Well… there was some bread. And a few red peppers, possibly one piece of onion hiding underneath the tiny sprinkle of goat cheese. And artichoke hearts slapped on top. The side of caesar dressing was probably the most exciting part of the whole thing.

Super Multi-layered Chicken Nachos

The celiac in our group was going to get a wrap but since they only had flour tortillas available for that, she opted for the corn-tortilla nachos (appetizer) instead. Ordered with grilled chicken instead of the beer-marinated chicken, this was by far the best plate at the table.
