my first sushi experience
My first sushi meal ever took place at Miso in April 2007. I didn’t know quite what to expect, I ordered 9 pieces a la carte. And I entertained my dining companions with my woeful chopstick manners. (I’ve since learned that fingers make better sushi implements.) I waited an awful long time for the bill.
And I fell in love with these dainty bits of artwork on my plate. The taste, the presentation, the pickled ginger. It was expensive but fun, and since then every sushi joint becomes an adventure for my tastebuds.
Dishes Tried:
Fruity sushi
You get 5 large pieces for the price. Red tuna, strawberries, pineapple, honey, and cream cheese. Reading it, it’s hard to picture all this together; but tasting it, especially at brunchtime, it does work. the price is pretty steep though.

More than sushi
Sushi, Asian fusion or even breakfast at Miso! My review will not be about sushi, but bacon and eggs.
Located at the old McDonalds at the corner of Atwater and St-Catherine, Miso offers 3 floors of zen-like dining atmospheres.
Brunch begins at 11am weekends only and their menu is extensive . From eggs over easy through omelets to pancakes and waffles, and ending with fruit. The choice is yours to enjoy.
Dishes Tried:
Poached egg florenteine
poached egg and ham on an english muffin topped with a spinach bechamel sauce served with a bocconcini and tomato salad and balsamic dressing. It was Zen….

their sushi chef is very creative, so it’s great to watch him work, or to ask him to come up with his own creations. plating, atmosphere, decor, service, all superbe.
But they have a full “other” menu, with all your asian favorites but most with a twist….
