Mainly Japanese with Other Asian Influences
The green awning is easy to miss. I discovered this three years into living near Charles Village. But this is a decently large place, with little if any wait, fast service, reasonable prices, and close to authentic Japanese food/sushi. I have only been here for lunch, and I think the bento boxes are well worth the money. I love the variety of four little appetizer dishes that come for free with every meal. You never know what you’re going to get – potato salad, kimchee, seaweed, beans, radish pickles. That alone makes this place an adventure. At noon, as the place gets croweded, it’s a little hard to get the attention of a waiter, but when you do, they serve you or get your bill quickly.
Dishes Tried:
Salmon Teriyaki Bento Lunch Box
Seldom do you get salmon so cheap! And with all the bells and whistles of a bento box – salad with ginger dressing, three pieces of California rolls, miso soup, two orange slices, a scoop of white rice. The California rolls are very basic. The teriyaki sauce is just right. The salmon can tend to be overcooked, but still yummy nonetheless!
Chicken Yaki Soba
It’s hard to find real yaki soba in any Japanese restaurant, but this comes pretty close. It’s got a subtle yaki soba sauce. Many may think it tastes a little too close to chow mein. The serving is generous. The ingredients are basic – chicken, green onions and sprouts.
