No More Giant Burritos!
I don’t care if you mush the tortilla in a press and claim that it’s fresh and made just for me, I am sick of these giant burritos! My own personally bias I guess, but I’ve never been a fan of the Panchero’s or the Flying Burrito or Chipotle. A giant tortilla stuffed with a whole bunch of stuff just never really appealed to me. And how authentically Mexican are these things anyways?
Panchero’s is a franchise, strike one. To me, a franchise is the opposite of originality and art in the food world. It signifies to me that the business is more about money and less about the food, but I digress and will state that what I said isn’t always the case. Panchero’s has been in business now for over 15 years, so they must be doing something right for someone. To a hungry college kid Panchero’s probably looks like the promise land. A giant roll of food for under 10 dollars. I understand the draw and why it works in Ames, but there are lots of other Mexican restaurant options to choose from too so how about give those a try?
Here, like many other chains and fast food restaurants you’re going for price and quantity and quality isn’t really a big deal. Panchero’s is another one of those establishments that is what it is. I personally don’t see myself visiting Panchero’s or any other giant burrito eatery anytime in the near future.
