Brunch is back

Ah, the Sunday brunch. Just another excuse for people like me to squeeze an extra meal into the day. The brunch at Pesce Italian Kitchen (formerly Pesce Blue) is the only thing that gets me out of bed on Sunday. Literally. This brunch is so underrated, and for so many reasons. First, let me mention the cocktails. A long list of deliciously refreshing cocktails…everything from those classic Mimosas and Bloody Marys to Pesce’s innovative renditions such as the raspberry Mimosa, or the Bloody Mary infused with bacon vodka. (Sounds strange, but is suprisingly tasty…if you like bacon). The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and the staff is extremely professional and attentive. With its recent renovation, the restaurant has become cozier, the contrasting colors (yellows, browns and blood oranges) helping to make the environment more aesthetically pleasing. Pesce’s brunch is reasonably priced, especially when taking into considering the wide variety of breakfast and lunch items they prepare to order. The buttermilk pancakes (blueberries optional) are unlike any I’ve ever had. They melt in your mouth. The fried calamari tastes fresher than fresh, and when paired with the various aiolis that accompany it, practically makes me forget I’m eating squid. They have your standard basic breakfast of eggs as you like them, toast, thyme roasted potatoes, and the Italian’s version of bacon known as “pancetta”. Then they have anything from eggs benedict, Gillian’s bacon mac’ n cheese, (which is absolutely amazing..covered in toasted breadcrumbs) to a swordfish sandwich, to a winter salad (if you’re looking for lighter fare). The menu has a lot of options, and each one is delicious. So, if you’re looking for a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon with friends or family or both, and want amazing service, great food, and reasonable prices…go to Pesce! Parking is conveniently located right next to the restaurant at the parking lot known as the “whale wall”.

Elegant Presentation

I ate here on a busy evening. I was with 2 of my associates. We tried a variety of seafood, chicken and appetizers. The wine list was phenomenal! Their fish is exotically prepared and fresh. The owner is right there to ask and to make sure everyone is happy with their meal. This is a somewhat pricey menu, but you get what you pay for. I can’t wait to go back.
