This hotel/restaurant is in a great setting. This is my third visit. Went there for breakfast. The hostess, a very attitude obsessed woman, greeted us with no smile and we’re doing you a favor surliness. No “good morning” or “may I help you” but nada. We were not alone… she did this with what I assume were paying guests. Tables were empty and she had patrons stand for a couple of minutes while she sat the table and then said “sit there.” When we asked for coffee she said I will get the server. He arrived. You had to ask for coffee and place settings and everything. Breakfast for two, with tip, was nearly $50. He served the wrong omelette’s, everything was piled on two plates, including the toast and bagel, there were no bread plates or butter knives. On pad of butter and one selection of jam for two. He didn’t write the order and obviously has memory problems. I had to ask for the orange juice after ten minutes and the waiter said he wasn’t in charge of that it was the bar tender. Give me a break. And with so much pretension it was mind boggling. If these “servers” were actor/waiters it would be understandable but in this economy can’t they find better help than this. There was a rather elegant looking older couple and they were greeted with “you guys will have to wait.” This place is not five stars but barely one star. Never again until they guarantee no more attitude from the help! The omelette’s were so so and rubbery.

Best Meal in Palm Springs

Last night four of us went for the first time to Purple Palm as part of Dining Out for Life. (They donated 100% of their proceeds to the Desert AIDS Project). Upon arriving the valet greeted us and we walked into the Colony Palms Hotel where we were greeted with a spectacular setting and the restaurant directly in front of us. Unfortunately there weren’t any signs telling us exactly how to get to it, we ended up going to the right which lead us to the restaurant, but not to the host’s stand. However, once we figured that out and told him our name, we were seated immediately at a lovely banquet where we could look out at the entire restaurant and pool area.

The couple beside us immediately said that this was the best food they’d had in the desert, and upon looking at the menu we were also hooked. We started with perfectly made drinks. The waitress was attentive and knew exactly how each dish was prepared when we asked about some of the French preparations. We were offered several different types of breads, as well as a small Amuses-bouche of seared tuna. Our appetizers were wonderful; the salad, dill & fennel soup, and mushroom and artichoke dish. Main courses of duck and scallops were also exquisitely presented and seasoned. Desserts were big enough to share and we shared the macadamia nut tart and the rhubarb and gelato and sorbet combo. Yummy. The only failure of the evening was that once our first glass of wine had been poured, it was hard to get the wine steward’s attention to pour more and our waitress was very busy and we couldn’t reach it.

However, for a very busy evening, the service was great, the food fabulous and the setting divine. We will be back.

Phenomenal world class cuisine. Chef will cater to your every delight. Anipasto platter is one of our favorites. Great place for all three meals.

Super Sexy.

A friend of mine wanted to take me to the Purple Palm one night. It was a Saturday night and fairly busy. Most everyone there was in their twenties and all sexy. The drinks were great too. It almost felt like I was at a posh house…

If you are looking for super-chic ambiance, then this is THE place to come in Palm Springs. I came here for drinks with friends, and they were very well-made. Even though we weren't eating, I glanced at the menu, and it looked wonderful!…
