If you can get by the host, it's an awesome experience
Here is the frustrating part, I love all aspects of the food, the eating areas and amazing servers. However, the hosts that they have up front are controlling, to the extent of almost a confrontation every time and today 10/18/2016 was no exception.
We are part of the business community and Red Lobster is a great place to go for lunch. Today we walked in, the host was talking while chewing gum and we couldn’t understand him. The entire right side of the restaurant had zero customers, and there wasn’t one person in the waiting are. When we finally understood between chews that he was asking for our name because there was a 15 minute wait, again, no one was waiting and half of the restaurant was 100% empty. It was a controlling attitude and we politely left and enjoyed a wonderful meal at Green Mill.
We go to Red Lobster a lot and over the past 6 months or so, we ask for a booth and they walk directly to a table. Then we ask for a booth and they are extremely rude. It is only the host and believe me, there are plenty of other restaurants in the immediate vicinity.
It’s a great restaurant with great food and exceptional service but the gatekeeper (host) is going to ruin you experience 9 out of 10 times. Unfortunately, it’s just not worth confrontation each and every time. Spare yourself and choose a different option.
