Ryans Buffet great place for a family style meal
I eat at Ryans in Clive frequently. I would eat there more often if I did not live so far away. Of all the buffets in the Des Moines area I believe it is the best. It has recently added a Mongolian Stir Fry layout and has a small Mexican food and Pizza section but for the most part the offerings are American food like your mother might fix you for lunch or dinner. The other reviewer said they didn’t have a very large selection but I would say they do. From 1 to 3 pm they offer a senior lunch deal for $7.23 with drinks if you are over 60 or 62. Steak and roast and ham is only offered before 1 pm and after 3 pm. Maybe the other reviewer ate there during the senior meal deal hours. It is a buffet the waitress doesn’t serve you or refill your drinks he or she busses your used plates and cleans tables. You must ask the waitress to bring you milk. There is always such a large variety of items that I always leave satisfied. One complaint I have about half the time is that the only green beans offered are oriental style (steamed not cooked) but I soldier on.
