By far the best izakaya in NYC, a little more expensive but really exceptional, have not been disappointed with any dish (although can’t say I care for firefly squid). Amazing deserts, kuru zenzai and black sesame creme brulee are favorites. Akane loves the mackerel onigiri. Good raw fish as well as cooked meats, vegetables. Great sake selections, we’ve done sake tastings there that are truly amazing.

Refreshing change from all the sushi-focused places. High quality food, great service, nice ambience. Amazing desserts, eg black sesame creme brulee. Will definitely be back.

If you are sake lovers, you will be attracted by the varieties of sake of this restaurant. The tapas dishes are nicely arranged and tasty. Of course can’t miss the dessert! I will definitely go back again!

This place is very intimate so only bring your closest friends here. The sashimi is a must try (almost omakase style). It’s worth the money if you enjoy good quality food.

Hidden in a basement location in midtown East, this place is truly a gem. Their sake selection is not to be beat. And the desserts are quite good. If you’re in for a light meal and a few drinks, this is the place to be. Very cozy and intimate, with a slightly sinister basement location but very cool ambience.

be extremely cautious about the wine

Great food but be extremely cautious about the wine (they don't serve wine but call and ask if you want to bring your own wine). Love the food but the staff was contradictory about the wine policy. We called before about the cork fee (as…

Top Notch Japanese....If you can find it.

\r This place is fantastic. Tucked away in the basement of a corporate building in Midtown East, Sakagura offers delicious and fresh Japanese fare along with an extensive Sake list. One thing to note - they do not serve any traditional red…
