It IS your father's Oldsmobile....
Sayfees is clean, quiet and when I was there, filled with well heeled older folks who likely grew up knowing a salad fork from a dinner fork. The chairs are padded and comfy—this is a restaurant where you are supposed to linger and talk.
The service is excellent, my waitress,Tara, practically babied me while I waited for my party to arrive. The coffee was good and the menu was broad, with everything available from plain old meatloaf and mashed potatoes to the luncheon classic, sauteed chicken livers.
I wasn’t very adventuous this time out—I was meeting my daughter’s inlaws for the first time and wanted something easily managed by a woman who doesn’t dare buy a white blouse. Tuna salad fit the bill. It was boring old tuna salad—nice crisp greens, nothing special.
The dessrt cart was lovely—I had some of the best rich and fruit filled carrot cake I have ever eaten. The other selections included a great looking bread pudding, 3 chocolate to die for choices, and the generic cheesecake.
I like being waited on by a happy and helpful waitress who knows her stuff and is familiar with the menu. I like clean and quiet, with enough room between the tables to talk comfortably. I like Sayfees, and will go back to see if they REALLY know how to cook—so for now it gets three stars-one for the room, one for the carrot cake, and one for the gifted Tara.
