Seasons 52 unveils new summer menu for 2012

On June 19, 2012, Seasons 52 rolled out their new summer menu across the country savoring the fresh flavors of summer. Just like the name, Seasons 52 is always inspired by seasonal, farm-fresh produce and meats. I have personally been to the Fort Lauderdale and Orlando locations many times. I am so happy that we now have a location in Orange County where everyone can experience their wonderful cuisine. The restaurant interior is cozy with a slightly dark ambiance, which makes you focus on your food instead everyone else. Even on a Tuesday night, the dining room was bustling. I always get a little giddy when I go to a Seasons 52 as the surprise of what is on the menu just makes me so excited – the life of a foodie!

Artichoke & Goat Cheese Flatbread

Artichoke & Goat Cheese Flatbread is topped leaf spinach, balsamic onions, and roasted peppers. This had some really good flavor combination –tangy from the balsamic onions, hearty vegetable flavor from the artichokes, creamy & salty from the goat cheese, sweet from the roasted peppers, and a vibrant green vegetable flavor from the spinach.

Chilled Lobster & Shrimp Spring Roll

Chilled Lobster & Shrimp Spring Roll comes with a dipping sauce trio of cool salsa verde, aromatic lemongrass, and sweet-hot red chili. It was a beautiful presentation! There was a generous amount of lobster and shrimp versus vegetables and noodles. This is a great summer dish with fresh flavors – perfectly cooked, chilled seafood with crunchy vegetables for texture.

Organic Arugula Salad

Organic Arugula Salad mixed with watermelon, grilled golden beets, goat cheese, jicama, and topped with toasted pistachios. The cumin lime vinaigrette was fabulous! Perfectly executed in flavor and texture – peppery arugula, sweet beets, creamy goat cheese, crunchy textured jicama, and smoky flavor from the pistachios.

Summer Vegetarian Tasting

Summer Vegetarian Tasting includes the grains of life, soft taco, chili relleno, vegetables, and cedar roasted tofu topped with mango chutney. This was a wonderful and creative way for vegetarians to get gourmet entrees made just for them. The soft taco is rather creative, but needs a little work. Perhaps swapping out the beans for tofu might be better. The beans were a little too gritty. The grains of life salad was da bomb! It was crunchy, nutty and full of flavor. If it was for ovo-lacto vegetarians, a sprinkle of feta cheese would make this salad outrageous! The chili relleno was a good attempt but not what I think of as a chili relleno. If the mushroom spinach mixture were minced, the cream sauce would work better. It would also pack better inside the chili. The asparagus was grilled to perfection, tender with a vibrant green flavor. The cedar roasted tofu was absolutely fabulous! The curry seasoning and the cedar plank flavor were absorbed into the tofu. The tofu exploded with flavor unlike any tofu I have ever tasted. I love it! The mango chutney added a wonderful sweet flavor which perfectly complimented the tofu.

Wild Alaskan Copper River Salmon

Wild Alaskan Copper River Salmon atop corn risotto, fresh asparagus, roasted pepper, served with dill sauce. The salmon had a delicate flavor and served with the skin (as I lovingly call it, “Bacon of the Sea”). The risotto was perfectly cooked. The fresh corn kernels burst with flavor complementing the risotto. The asparagus was perfectly grilled. The dill sauce was a little too lemony, but the fish didn’t need it.

11 oz. Piedmontese All-Natural Bone-in Strip Steak

11 oz. Piedmontese (Buffalo/Cattle hybrid) All-Natural Bone-in Strip Steak served with roasted asparagus, cremini mushrooms, and fingerling potatoes. The steak was very tender, yet firm. There isn’t a whole lot of marbling which made this steak taste more like buffalo than cattle. It had a wonderful charred flavor from the grill.

Watermelon Refresher

Watermelon Refresher was refreshing and reminds you of summer. Fresh watermelon was minced and settled to the bottom of the glass. The color combination of this drink looked like a sunset. Beautiful presentation!

Strawberry Lemon Euphoria

Strawberry Lemon Euphoria was swimming in strawberry flavor. It was a strong drink, but delightful and very refreshing. I can see myself sipping on this while swinging on the porch on a warm summer evening. Thumbs up, way up!

BBQ Chicken Flatbread

BBQ Chicken Flatbread is topped with glazed BBQ chicken, balsamic onions, sliced scallions, and melted Parmesan. The BBQ sauce was nice and light – just how I like it. Unfortunately, this one wasn’t very exciting. The combined flavor fell a little flat. Maybe a gorgonzola or maytag bleu cheese could tease the palate a little more and play better with the BBQ flavor?
