I’ve had good BBQ and I’ve had great BBQ, and I’ve had it in Texas. This is not great BBQ, in fact it is not even good BBQ.
The meat had a slightly smoked flavor, but not the serious intensity you’d expect from the name of the place. There was one, count em, one kind of BBQ sauce served in a reclaimed liquor bottle. It was thin with a lot of vinegar and very little flavor.
My wife ordered the ribs and got 6 bones for $11 with no sides. The meat was not very tender and only 3 of the bones were of good size with the other three being very small. Very low value for the cost.
I had the sampler that had a variety of their meats, but this too had very little flavor and was dry. And, I had a hard time telling the loin from the turkey as they were both dry and flavorless.
Forget the cheesy potatoes, they were cubed spuds that were mushy and you could not taste nor identify any cheese. The beans were also boring and tasted like they came straight out of a can.
The line moved slowly as everyone waited for their order to be made until the next person in line is helped. This left two of the three employees to stand there talking to each other while the third cut the meat.
Their location is fairly nice with garage style doors to open so it feels like you’re sitting outside, and the cobbler was nice and tasty, but that’s about the only redeeming values.
I’ll give it two stars because it is a new place and they might improve. We’ll not be back for some time and am not sure if they will ever be able to get past the dry lightly smoked meat to gain any serious flavor.
I really don’t expect them to be around very long due to the cost and poor flavor of the food.
