Sonny Bran's Smokehouse - Finger Lickin' Barbecue
I was in DFW for a meeting and just had a taste for barbecue..well all we heard was got to Sonny’s. They have one their restaurants located in the West End. The place was packed on a Tuesday evening..that should tell you something. The place is nothing fancy — just good down home food. The posters on the wall explained the history of Sonny’s starting In 1910 whenElias Bryan moved his family to Dallas from Cincinnati and opened the first Bryan ‘s Barbecue. Sonny’s has a reputation for friendly service and melt-in-your-mouth barbecue. I especially appreciated the waitress giving us a heads up that they were short staffed and we would have a wait of about 30 min for food. That is fine with me as long as you let me know up front. I would go back anytime.
Dishes Tried:
Brisket
The menu is small — just meat and a few sides. But that is all you need at Sonny’s.
Most of us chose the Combo Plate. Pick up to 3 meats which is a 1/2 lb plate and 2 veggies. The meat was fall of the bone – tender and juicy. The sauce isn’t too sweet. And not too vinegary.
I could of ordered a second plate.
For sides I had; Okra • Mac & Cheese
It really doesn’t get any better than that.
No complaints from our group..just that they would like to come back and try a different meat.
