Best. Thai. Ever.
Sripraphai is not the type of restaurant you want to go to alone – the number of mouthwatering selections will make you regret it. If you can bring a group and order lots of selections family style, you will be a happy camper.
Sripraphai was fairly busy when we went, but it was well worth the wait. The fried fish topped with chili sauce was nothing short of nirvana. Before I ate at Sripraphai I was skeptical of its reputation as the best Thai restaurant on the east coast, but now I would have to agree.

Succulent, even after being fried, with the right balance of sweet and spicy.

A Woodside treasure, it’s fare is better than all I tasted in Thailand, although I know I need to spend more time in the country to proffer such a bold statement. The freshest of my favorite Thai ingredients – galangal, lemongrass, Thai basil and kaffir limes.
Recommendation:
I don’t normally take pad thai, but they take the traditional noodle dish to a completely new level with the tiny dried shrimp. Absolutely do not miss the watercress salad with shrimp, squid and chicken – crispy texture with a spicy kick. There is not one bad thing on the menu. Family style it to sample all the incredible yumminess.
Even though it expanded and has outdoor space, there’s usually a wait, it’s closed on Wednesdays, and crazy cheap for the quality.

Need a reason to take the 7 train to Queens?
Most New Yorkers think you need a passport to cross the river into Queens. And that’s too bad. They’re missing the most authentic Thai food west of Bangkok. Every dish here is traditionally spiced, and “spicy really means spicy”.
The menu is designed for exploring new tastes. From the Papaya Salad with Crispy Catfish to the Drunken Noodles to the Whole Red Snapper, it’s difficult to make a bad choice. Please be adventurous and skip the Pad Thai.
Although the restaurant has tripled in size over the years (including an outdoor garden), there will be a wait to get in. They don’t take reservations and they’re closed on Wednesday.

Talk about variety! And they offer dishes that I never see in any other Thai restaurants. My brother brought me here while I was visiting. We ordered the Crispy Chinese Watercress Salad and Saute Chinese Broccoli with Crispy Pork. Both dishes were soooo yummy!
The dressing for the salad was a combo of sweet, salty and sour, and just a tad salty for my taste but was still good. Chinese Broccoli with Fried Pork—it’s lechon kawali, for Filipinos, with greens so you can’t beat the unhealthy and healthy.
There are still so many dishes to try, I can’t wait to go back. *drools
