Steak 'n Shake

We have been customers at this Steak ’n Shake location for approximately 15 years. The serive has slowly but steadily declined to the point where it is totally unacceptable. The problem appears to be with the waitress staff that is now in place. There are only about 2 of the original waitresses left that provided good service. We visited last week and when we arrived there were only 3 other tables with customers sitting at them. The waittresses were all clustered behind the drink fountain and completly involved in social conversations with only an occasional look at the tables where customers were waiting for their orders to be taken. After about 15 minutes a waitress came and took our order and then there was an excessively long wait for the food – about 45 minutes, during which time orders placed after ours were filled and taken to the tables. Our waitress never checked to see if we had gotten our food or even if the order had been taken by the cooks. We could see our order tag still hanging above the order window – all alone – still not being taken. We finally went to the counter and asked what the holdup was and we finally got our food – took one hour. They need to hire people who want to work and not socialize with each other.
