Tasty simple Greek seafood restaurant
I came here on the recommendation of a dear friend who used to live near by. This was her favorite restaurant in the neighborhood.
Unpretentious, friendly, simple tables, and serves HUGE helpings. Any dish you order could be eaten by two people.
I arrived around 6:30 and the place had 4 couples in it. By 7:00 there was a line waiting to get in. They can probably serve 40-50 people.
Order your fish grilled – you won’t regret it.
Dishes Tried:
Grilled or Fried Whiting
A review on another website highly recommended ordering grilled Whiting. Being a California kid, I was unfamiliar with several of the fish on the menu. When I asked my friend who recommended the place about Whiting, she practically drooled in her text message.
Grilled – perfectly with salt and olive oil
This is a single bone white small white fish about 4 inches long and one wide. The single bone means you can simply peel out the flesh and not have to worry about pesky bones anywhere else. Juicy, flavorful, tender. I can see why my friend and the other reviewers drooled.
Roasted Lemon Potatoes
This dish was also recommended. Although tasty, it was a bit much. It is a plate of potatoes covered in a butter/olive oil/lemon sauce.
For fish lovers.....
Be prepared to wait a long time for a tabe but, once you get seated, get ready to enjoy a very good fish dinners in this Greek eatery in Astoria, NY. The portions are enormous and suitable for sharing and their sides are very good. Don’t expect a great wine list and there are no desserts on their menu but, as an added treat, eveyone gets a free special Greek dessert that’s light ans delicious. Credit cards accepted but tips are expected to be in cash.
