A Japanese food lover from Newark, NJ tried it, liked it, and rated it . They liked the food, liked the service, and liked the ambiance.

You've gotta try this!
The overall ambiance was perfect, from the music to the lighting. Very trendy and upscale atmosphere. I tried three dishes and they were all very tasty I strongly recommend the Short Ribs, Scallops Risotto, and the Free Range Chicken entrees. Although they’re somewhat pricey, the taste and presentation make up for that. The cocktails possessed uniqueness in taste as well as presentation. I enjoyed the Shanghai Mojito and the Japanese Flirtini. Although it is a great place, you have to be the kind of person that appreciates it’s diversity. Go there expecting to sit closer to others than you normally would…the Hibachi tables seat up to 8 or 9 people as do most hibachi experiences so if you are too uptight to join in on the sharing policy go find another boring by the book restaurant for your dining endeavours. I’ll stick with Ten East dining!

The meat was very juicy and full of flavor. The white truffle mashed were sooo good followed up by the baby carrots.

DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT IF YOU LIKE TO HAVE A CUP OF COFFEE AFTER YOUR MEAL BECAUSE YOU’RE NOT ALLOWED THERE!!! I tried Ten East Hibachi today for my birthday dinner with my boyfriend, our 2 yr old son, and my dad. The decor of the place was impressive, however, after we had spent $176 on dinner, we asked the server (who ignored us for a good 15 minutes) for coffee. She told us that they don’t serve coffee at the tables. (The only logical explanation for this would be that they want to rush you right outta there in order to make more money, because the more tables they turn, the more money they make) These greedy people have only been in business for 6 months and they want to take advantage of their customers. They charged us $3 dollars for a kid’s 7-up!!! The manager told us that its “their policy” to not serve coffee at the tables, and they told us that we would have to get up from our table and relocate to the bar to have a cup of coffee!!! We could not believe what we were hearing, seeing that everyone of us has worked, and still works in the service industry. I guess I could understand it if they were really busy or on a wait, but there was only a few tables seated. They have officially lost our business and the business of everyone we know, which is A LOT of people!!!!! STUPID MOVE!!! I will stick with Mt. Fuji in Hasbrouck Hts and I suggest you do too.

Nice Atmosphere and Good Food
The ambiance is very nice, particularly at the bar, and the food is prepared well. Although primarily a hibatchi house loaded with kids, it could be quite loud during birthday celebrations, and when the hibatchi chefs through onions into their hats and have flames coming out. The weekly specials are worth checking out…every day a “special” one. My favorite is the “all you can eat sushi” night…and the 1/2 price specialty drinks during the “off days.”

Tuna, Smoked Salmon, Inagi, and salmon roe sushi — decent quality. The rice was prepared well. Not too dry or sticky. It was moist with the right hint of sweetness.

Superior Food and Service!
I’ve been here several times with friends and my fiance. We always go to the hibachi section, but there’s also a fusion section that I hear is very good. Everyone I’ve come in contact with at Ten East has been pleasant and helpful. The hibachi chefs are entertaining and friendly, and the food is excellent! It may be a little pricey, but the amount of food you get makes up for it.

I don’t eat steak, so I always get the chicken & shrimp hibachi. It’s about $25, which includes soup, salad, a shrimp appetizer, rice, grilled vegetables, chicken and more shrimp.

THIEFS!!!!
I just celebrated my 30th birthday at Ten East with my family and our kids…total party of 18!
Everything went very well from its service, food, etc.
Until my 3 year old daughter’s pink metallic DS was stolen by one of the waiters in our area.
We sat in the private section of the restaurant and the kids never left that area. The kids sat in their high chairs for the entirety of our stay…so no one else could have taken the DS from our table. It was the waiter who cleaned out the table before my cake was brought out.
My 3 year old daughter left in tears! We insisted with everyone at the restaurant to please check that they may mistakingly have grabed it when they were all clearing our tables…but, they just said “no, that no one saw it”!
I am raged…how could an adult be so cold and evil to take the opportunity to steal a child’s belonging!
I left the restaurant all of my information just in case some good heartedness comes out and the person decides to return the DS! But, I must say all the good service and all else went downhill upon this taking place and the disconcern every employee in the restaurant demonstrated to both myself and my husband!
The owner Anthony Franconeri will not continue his success at this restaurant with the type of employees he’s got there taking care of us “the customers” who are making him successful!
To know that we spent $650 on tuesday night July 7th, 2009 and all that came out of it was a missing DS that I bought for my 3 year old daughter for christmas…leaves me both hurt and disgusted!

Fantastic!!!
Iam a food and beverage industry professional and have 15 yrs experience as an insider in the restaurant industry. Since I am a self proclaimed foodie, I always try new restaurants and I am open and fair.
Nontheless, my girlfriend and I visited Ten East this past Sat. We were greeted and sat at our table promptly by the extrememly handsome and polite ear piece toting eye candy, i meant manager named Derrick. We sat @our table and were greeted by our server Victor who fetched our sake and informed us about the daily specials. The large hot sake came in a plastic bamboo bottle which was very hard to pour into those lil cups and kept spilling onto the table. What a shame to waste good sake, so we informed Victor of our issue and he was more than accomodating and brought us the traditional ceramic sake bottle which was great. We than ordered the following: miso soup which was good, oysters that were creamy and delicious, crabcakes were soft and lightly fried and tasted really good. We than ordered sushi that wasn’t even on the menu and they were more than eager to please once again. My sushi consisted no rice becuase I really just like to taste the fish and in this case the tuna, salmon and yellow tail were very fresh and melted in my mouth. We than split an order of the crab rice which was also great. We opted to skip the dessert but they have a green tea moose which I will be going back to try.
Lastly, the ambiance and decor are sultry and clean. The red glass tiled ceiling is a piece of artwork in itself. The bar area is long and spacious flanked by low tables and banquettes. Ten East is also a great place for a birthday celebration for those who love attention for the servers come out beating these loud drums and its really an attention grabber. I highly recommend Ten East not just for sushi but your traditional cooked fare as well. And ask for Victor to be your server as he was very attentive and did his job very well. He even thanked us for our nice tip on the way out. Love this place….

Poor
We had a coupon for 20% off. We called and ordered to go. We told them we had the coupon. I arrived and was told that the offer was only good for eat-in. It does not state this anywhere. The Mgr’s attitude was extremely poor. He basically said: “tough sh*t”. I told him to enjoy the $40 bucks worth of food.
Baaaaaaaaad customer service!
