Serious Disappointment
At first, I was very pleased to find a “green” restaurant in the mountains with so many vegetarian options, but my pleasure waned once I dined there.
For starters, we were seated at a dirty table that no one seemed to notice was dirty. There were visible food particles, and the table obviously needed a sanitary wipe. The waitress was happy to do that for us, taking a wet rag, and wiping the crumbs directly on the floor making no attempt at all catch them either in her rag or in her hand.
The Bloody Marys we were served were very weird. They were spiced to the point of overpowering with chili powder. The garnish was nice, but that chili powder was over the top.
The final straw for me came when the food arrived. I ordered the Burrito, which is vegetarian and served “smothered” with Vegetarian Green Chili. The version of smothered I received turned out to be a light coating of green chilis out of the can topped with a light coating of shredded cheese to hold them in to place. The “Spiced Beans” turned out to be canned black beans, and the rice had all the flavor and consistency of instant rice.
I am being very fair to give them three stars, and am only doing so due to their efforts to keep the restaurant “green,” to recycle, and to offer a variety of vegetarian options. Without that, and rating only on the food, I would rate a “two.”
Dishes Tried:
Burrito
The Burrito itself wasn’t bad, but it was not smothered the way the menu said it would be, the beans were not spicy the way the menu said they would be, and the dish just was not prepared the way the menu said it would be. I seriously wanted to try their “vegetarian green chili” which was supposed to smother this burrito, but it didn’t happen. The way this burrito was served, it was not worth the price. There was no sauce on this burrito at all, and, thus, it was a bit dry.
Goat Cheese and Spinach Enchiladas
The enchiladas were very rich, but were served with bland rice and beans. The rice was “crunchy” and we suspected it was “instant.” There was no sauce at all on the enchiladas, which is very uncharacteristic for enchiladas since enchilada sauce is made just for this dish.
