The Pecan-The Best of the Best!

Experience Southern dining at its finest at The Pecan, Georgia’s newest fine dining restaurant located directly across the street from the historic train depot on Main Street in College Park. Ironically, The Pecan is also making its own history to add to the district. It is Atlanta’s only South Side fine dining restaurant.
Once you enter, you are greeted with a friendly smile from the hostess who is adjacent to the door. While being seated, your ears become attentive to the soft tunes being played above throughout the restaurant. You are welcomed by a warm ambiance and a Southern eclectic charm. The eyes are immediately drawn to the light woods and white crisp tablecloths that are contrasted by long elegant red curtains, hanging contemporary light fixtures, and the red and orange accent walls that give depth and character to the restaurant.
The food is spectacular! The Pecan features a Southern fusion menu created by owner and executive chef Tony R. Morrow. His passion for food will be revealed when you bite into your choice entrée from the menu. It is like a taste of Heaven.
While visiting The Pecan, I had the pleasure of sampling three entrées. I first sampled the Pepper Crusted New Zealand Lamb Chops served with a side of garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed French green beans. The lamb chops are seared, broiled and lightly brushed with a balsamic sauce. If you are accustomed to eating your lamb chops with mint jelly, then you will quickly find that none is needed for this entrée. The lamb chops have a distinguished mint flavor already added to taste. The lamb chops were succulent and very appetizing.
I also sampled the Fried Catfish. The catfish was served over pepper jack grits which is one of the signature dishes of this restaurant along with Italian collard greens. The catfish is lightly fried basically melts in my mouth. The pepper jack grits and the collard greens were both appetizing, but I must say, the pepper jack grits gives this meal a kick. They are really good! Who would have thought to mix grits with pepper jack cheese. What a great combination.
Lastly, I tried the Tybee Island Crab Cakes because I am a crab cake lover. This meal comes with two large crab cakes served with a spicy Creole Aioli sauce coupled with garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed French green beans. All I have to say is “Wow!” These crab cakes are to die for. I have not tasted any crab cakes like these since my last visit to Maryland. It is simply therapeutic to eat one of these crab cakes. If you are a crab cake lover, then this meal will definitely put a smile on your face.
The serving size of each entrée is pleasing and fulfilling. The menu is reasonably priced and can be afforded by many. I give my compliments to the chef for all of the meals.
Not only was the food delightful, but the service was impeccable. The waitress was extremely outgoing and friendly. She was very knowledgeable about the entire menu. She knew the menu from the top to the bottom and from the bottom to the top. I was really impressed with her. Although she had several tables that requested her, she was very attentive to my needs. In addition, I was surprised by a visit from the Sous-Chef. He seemed very concerned whether or not I was pleased with my choice entrées. The staff made sure I was treated like a guest in their own home.
My overall experience was wonderful. Please visit The Pecan, 3725 Main St., College Park, GA 30337, www.thepecanrestaurant.com.
