Haitian Cuisine
Ti Georges is snuggled right in a pocket of Los Angeles that is surrounded by Echo Park and Downtown L.A. The sign is easy to spot as its name is incorporated into a picture of a rotiserrie chicken. If you have ever wanted to learn about the history of Haiti and eat at the same time then this
is your dream location. The walls of Ti Georges is filled with information and pictures about Haiti outlining all of its political leaders throughout its
history and ranging to descriptions of typical cuisine. The dining room is bright, colorful and very inviting. The chicken is clearly the star of the
show as every seat in the large dining area had a view of the chicken slowly spinning over burning wood. The fan over it is strong enough to take
the smoke away but seemingly knows well enough to allow the aroma to fill the room. We started off with salty platanos fritos. There were only four to the order but were big enough to satisfy. Next was the hot pickle Pikliz which was like a coleslaw with vinegar and habanero. The Pikliz was so good that I bought a jar of it to take home. The chicken was up next and lived uo to its good reputation. It was tender, juicy and smoky with a nice char. The salad that it came with was a nice complement. Overall, a wonderful first experience and I can’t wait to explore the menu further on my next visit.
