It all started on January 20, 1972. The first Tony Roma’s opened in North Miami, Florida with a simple menu or great tasting food, reasonable prices, late evening service, and live entertainment. People traveled miles to sample the signature Baby Back Ribs. Now, almost 40 years later, Tony Roma’s is nearly 200 locations strong spanning 33 countries! The Fullerton location opened in 1988 and still going strong. The restaurant is decorated with red brick walls and a festive mural with different translations for “Famous for the Ribs”. They even have a great bar area if you’re meeting friends after work for happy hour.

AC05. Full Slab of Baby Back Ribs

The full rack of Original Baby Back Ribs are tender, lean pork loin meat, basted in your choice of sauces (Original, Carolina Honeys, Blue Ridge Smokies, Maker’s Mark, Bourbon BBQ, or Tony Roma’s Red Hots) and two sides. We chose the Carolina Honeys sauce with garlic seared green beans and steamed broccoli. The Carolina Honeys sauce was a great combination with the fall-off-the-bone baby back ribs. It was sweet but didn’t overpower the smoky pork flavor. The garlic seared green beans were da bomb! Once you starting eating, you can’t stop. The green beans were seared to perfection and minced garlic bits were caramelized just right to add a little bit of sweet flavor. Sprinkle a little bit of salt and you’re good to go. The broccoli was steamed just right. A drizzle of butter and a little bit of salt would have made the broccoli perfect. Thumbs up, way up!

AC07. Bountiful Beef Ribs (7 Ribs)

The Bountiful Beef Ribs are hearty ribs with a rich beef flavor and glazed with your choice of sauce and two sides. We chose the Blue Ridge Smokies sauce with garlic seared green beans and fries. The Blue Ridge Smokies sauce was the perfect sauce for the beef ribs. It added a bold smoky flavor which sublimely complimented the beef flavor. The meat was fall-off-the-bone tender. The skin-on fries were fried to a crispy golden brown, a little salt and pepper and you’re good to go. Thumbs up!

AC06. Full Slab of St. Louis Spare Ribs

St. Louis Ribs are a larger, meatier cut of pork rib with more natural marbling and served with your choice of sauce and two sides. We chose the Bourbon BBQ sauce with garlic seared green beans and cole slaw. The Bourbon BBQ sauce went well with the pork. This is not our favorite type of pork rib, but the meat was fall-off-the-bone tender as well. The cole slaw is sweet with a slight tang. Thumbs up!

BF08. Filet Medallions Entree

Filet Medallions are three filet medallions with your choice of up to three gourmet toppings and served with loaded mashed potatoes (changed to corn fritter casserole) and your choice of dinner salad or cup of soup. The gourmet toppings chosen were BBQ Onion, Bleu Cheese Crust, and Cabernet Demi Glace. The weird thing is that it only comes with one side. Most of the entrees come with two. Plus, the plate presentation was awful. Everything just seemed slopped together. The best topping was the cabernet demi glace which paired nicely with the medium rare filet mignon. The sweetness of the corn fritter casserole balanced nicely with the saltiness of steak toppings.

Beef Short Rib

Beef Short Rib is a braised and grilled bone-in short rib topped with Cabernet demi glace and fire-roasted zucchini, yellow squash, red peppers, and carrots and served with loaded mashed potatoes (changed to baked potato). The short rib was mind-blowingly good! The beef was fall-off-the-bone tender, like the best pot roast you’ve ever had. The beef flavor is condensed in the braising process resulting in a rich roasted beef flavor. The Cabernet demi glace was the perfect accent to the beef adding a velvety, luxurious taste. The fire-roasted vegetables were perfectly cooked and grilled flavor worked wonders. The baked potato was perfectly baked with a fluffy texture on the inside. Thumbs up, way up!
