This is an essential East Village eatery – especially if you are visiting from Down Under! Erica always says that you can tell the best Chinese restaurants by the number of Chinese customers; well, this probably holds true for Austrailians as well, and you’ll always find some native Aussies here. The staple: pies. Little savory (usually meat) pies. You MUST try the Guiness Steak & Mushroom (if it is Friday, you’ll want to make a special trip for the daily special Shrimp pie!) And don’t forget the pea-soup floater! It can get a bit pricey ($5 per pie; $7 w/ pea soup!), but the seemingly diminutive pies can be quite filling; I’ve always found one sufficient. Oi!
