The second night in a row I ate out in Atlanta, the second night I was blown away by an incredible, modern American menu. Again, this restaurant looks like a disused factory from the outside, inside it is uber-cool with unusual sculpture and art adorning the walls and the largest, suspended (flaming) rotisserie I’ve ever seen. The kitchen is in the centre of the restaurant, so you can see all the action there all the time.
The food was stunning. My mussels starter was large, cooked in beer, and the largest, juiciest mussels I’ve ever had. The bread that came with them was just crusty enough so that it didn’t fall to pieces when you used it to mop up the delicious liquor from the shellfish.
The Pork joint melted in the mouth. It was perfectly cooked and a triumph of braising. Similarly, the chocolate bread and butter pudding was also a culinary masterpiece. Not stodgy or heavy, but light, very chocolatey, and served with a sharp mango sorbet that cut through the chocolate to give a fresh edge to your palate. A superb meal – not to be missed.
