Better, But Still Over-Priced

This restaurant has apparently undergone a complete staff re-training, because everyone we encountered on a recent Friday evening was friendly and attentive. Drinks were promptly refilled; special requests were honored; food was perfectly prepared. Unfortunately, the food was still lackluster and, despite a redesigned and “teaked” menu, still underseasoned and over-priced.

327. Pizza Skins

As always, hot and delicious, freshly mashed red bliss potatoes topped with plenty of gooey cheddar and bacon bits, nestled in the light and flaky Uno pizza crust. Still a stellar appetizer.

414. UNO Burger with Cheddar Cheese & Bacon

Cooked to perfection (medium rare as requested), but the beef wasn’t very flavorful. The “challah” bun was a bit stale and would have benefitted from butter or grilling – anything to give it some flavor. The french fries that accompanied the dish were limp and a bit cool, although not cold. Overall, the burger was a disappointment for $10.69.

Caesar Salad with Chicken and Anchovies

Could they spare the anchovies? While the size of the overall salad was OK, there were only three, very small anchovies and barely enough grilled chicken to notice. We’ve had more impressive salads from local pizza parlors.

Fish & Chips - Dinner Menu

Again, the flavor was missing here. The fish, while well-prepared, was simply fried (baked?) in unseasoned bread crumbs and served with tartar sauce and a lemon wedge. The result was a perfect example of BLAND. My companion opted for steamed veggies instead of the usual fries. Those too, a mixture of zuccini, summer squash and pea pods, while steamed to perfection, were unseasoned and bland. Overall, a dish that the salt and pepper on the table couldn’t begin to spice up enough.
