Great Salavadoran eats and sweets!
Great friends Tracey and Guille told us about how good this Salvadoran place is, and trusting Guille’s heritage and taste, my wife and I ventured to this local eatery to find out for ourselves. We stopped in recently to find that they have a nice selection of Salvadoran dulces (sweets) and baked goods as well as an elaborate selection of Salvadoran eats! With a clean and well kept store front, attentive staff and fairly prompt food prep time, we were considerably impressed with the offerings we tried. My wife had the Lomo Saltado, consisting of typically seasoned and marinated beef chunks with fries, and white rice, which was very, very tasty, fresh and well presented… and I had the Lomo a lo Pobre (poor man’s beef meal), which consisted of a very tender thinly sliced flame-grilled flank steak, fries, white rice, chopped lettuce and 2 fried eggs, and flanked by two tender fried sweet plantains! Amazingly they offer pretty substantial portions on their dishes – making the their use of disposable dishes awkward and the plastic flatware flimsy while trying to cut into both pupusas and steak! That being the only major drawback we found, I guess this is one way they keep their prices low, both meals were under $10 each, Wow and Terrific! Although their pupusas are good, they’re not the best in the area, but after the meals we enjoyed, all said and done, it is well worth the visit. We’ll definitely be occasional patrons.
