A lovely discovery: The Holyland Cafe

I was invited to the Holyland Cafe to celebrate a friend’s birthday and I was completely bowled over by the food at this cozy little place. I had a lamb curry that was absolutely heaven, served over turmeric rice with mango juice to drink. The hummus was the best I’ve had anywhere. Everyone at my table was overwhelmed by the sauces and diversity of tastes from felafel to sun-dried tomato cream sauce. One friend had roasted lamb shank with peas and tomato sauce which was moist and succulent and reminded us of the Middle Eastern version of down home family cooking that your grandmother would serve. Another dish that everyone wanted to taste was the Middle Eastern chicken with artichoke hearts in a gorgeous sauce I could eat everyday. I think I’ll order that next time I go, although the lamb curry is calling to me as we speak. Since the prices are so reasonable and the food comes out hot so quickly, I feel I could stop in for a quick homey Mediterranean meal and feel the way I feel at my favorite corner restaurant in Paris, it has that European vibe. I can’t get enough of the food and I’m so thrilled to find a place that feels as authentic as its food tastes.

Are there any other good ethnic restaurants in your town worth reviewing? :)
