Pizzaman with party of six

When our party of six arrived for our reservation on a Saturday night, our table was ready for us. Pizzaman is a very fun and noisy place. If you’re looking for a quiet, romantic dinner, you won’t find it here.

Five of us had pizza, and one had baked French onion soup. Everyone was very happy with their pizza. The thin crust was delicious—not the kind with little cracker holes that tastes like cardboard. The French onion soup came with a VERY thick layer of gooey cheese on top. You almost need a scissors to cut that cheese!

Our waitress explained she was “new” when she couldn’t answer our questions about what beer they had and what their house wine was. She checked with the bartender and got back to us. We ordered desserts and coffee, but the coffee didn’t come until long after we had finished our desserts. Our waitress apologized for the wait and told us they were brewing a new pot.

Overall, the food was great, but the service not so much.

Genesis with a group of 13

We had a reservation on a Sunday morning for thirteen, and they had our table waiting for us. We were served coffee and then given time to peruse the menu. Our group had two very skilled servers, and the ordering and the individual bills went very smoothly. The restaurant is huge and packed but everything ran very smoothly.
I built my own omelette, and it came with hash browns and toast which can be substituted with several other things. Coffee was refilled promptly, and leftover boxes and bags came when the meal was over. I would definitely go back.

Omelette was fully cooked but not dry. Cheese was gooey.

Uncle Julio's with a group of 10

UJ’s has only been open for one month, and it was extremely busy on a Thursday night. We had made a reservation for 10, and our table was ready 5-10 minutes after our reservation time.

Our waiter brought three large baskets of chips and salsa. He refilled the chips and salsa several times, hence we really liked them and devoured basket after basket. The chips were light, not greasy and not too salty. The salsa was yummy with a very slight kick.

I had the chicken enchiladas with hatch sauce which came with rice and beans. It was fine but not exceptional. I mixed my rice and beans together and poured some of the salsa over to give it more flavor. My order was for two enchiladas (you can order three). After the chip binge, I took half of my dinner home. With a group of ten, I got to see some others’ food. When I go back I would order the salmon fajitas, which came on a bed of wonderful mixed vegetables. The woman who ordered it said it was too good to eat on the bland tortillas, and she eat it off the plate and loved it. I would also order the table-side guacamole. They said it was wonderful.

My dinner of two enchiladas and a glass of water was $12.95. When we were paying, the waiter asked me if I’d like the leftover chips put in a bag to take home. He didn’t have to twist my arm. He also gave me a generous container of salsa, too, complimentary.

I would definitely go back when the initial rush dies down, and maybe go at an off time.

Interesting place

I went there with a group of friends after a movie on a Saturday night. We ordered a variety of items and shared. I had never been to a vegetarian/vegan restaurant and did not know what to expect. First of all let me say there is only street parking, and it was a real struggle to find a parking spot. We had to park two blocks away. The restaurant is very noisy, which made it very hard to hear the folks in our group of six. The music was too loud which added to the difficulty. We ordered two orders of “arancini.” This was a ball of rice stuffed with smoked cashew cheese. Three balls (golf-ball size) to an order. Of the things we ordered, the consensus was that this was the best of the dishes. We ordered two orders of “mushroom tartine,” which was three baguette slices with a chopped mushroom mixture on top. I thought it was very bland. We also ordered the beet plate, which was 2-3 small slices of four different colored beets with a white sauce. This was very tasty but very small. Our last choice was “roasted root vegetable galettes.” These were three little dough bundles stuffed with vegetables. They were good but very small. All the plates were about $10 each. We also ordered one each of the two desserts of the day: flour cherry cake and creme brulee. The cake was very moist and delicious. The creme brulee was pedestrian and extremely tiny—each person got about one teaspoonful (think 1/3 the size of a normal order.) The food bill + a 20% tip cost each of us $15. We had a total of six small plates and two desserts. This amount of vegetarian small plates, in my opinion, was not enough to satisfy an average adult. Two of us stopped and split a large gyro on the way home:)

Absolutely Delicious!

My next-door neighbor suggested we go to Thai Bangkok for dinner. She had lived in Thailand and could vouch for their food. On the way there she explained that the food is incredible, but the place is a dive. She was spot-on. The extensive menu has over 50 Thai choices and ten Hmong dishes. Most of the dishes start out vegetarian, and then you can add chicken, beef, pork, tofu, shrimp or seafood. If you like heat, you can order from five different levels of spice. If you don’t make a point of telling the waitress how much heat you want, the dish will come without any heat. I settled on a spring roll and Pad Ka Pow with beef. The spring roll was unremarkable but came with a very nice sauce. Pad Ka Pow is stir-fried baby corn, carrots, water chestnuts, mushrooms, scallions and beef in a Thai brown sauce. I didn’t know you had to ask for heat, so my food came plain and I can’t speak to how spicy the food could be. I wish I had known that because I like some heat. Our food was served with a big pot of rice. The food was absolutely delicious! I brought a left-over box home, but the left overs didn’t make it through the night:) I will definitely start carrying out often. I would have given five stars, but our waitress was surly, and the restaurant was very cold.

Great burger!

The half-pound classic burger was delicious! You pick your cheese, and it come with fries, waffle fries or homemade chips. I think it was $10. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars was because I ordered my burger medium-rare and it came medium. We went at an off hour, and the place was quiet for having a good conversation.

Love Bang Bang Shrimp!

I always get the Bang Bang Shrimp with a side salad for my dinner. Sometimes the shrimp may be spicy so this may be a consideration for you. I tried two entrees in the past and found them to be so-so, so I stick with the shrimp and order a salad:) Always tasty!

Tasty Irish Fare

County Clare is a charming Irish pub. The menu includes Irish staples: corned beef and cabbage, shepherd’s pie, Irish stew, Guinness and drinks made with Bailey’s Irish cream. I had the Reuben sandwich, which came with a generous portion of tater tots. Very good sandwich, but the bottom piece of bread got soggy. Very good service to our party of eight.
