Lure Seafood Restaurant & Bar

 45 Songhees Rd
Victoria, BC

Lure shouldn't lure anyone!

Other than the view which is spectacular, especially at night, this restaurant needs an overhaul.

The ambience is very dated and with no table clothes and starkness the only aspect of the restaurant that is appealing is the view across the harbour.

First, the staff. We have been there several times. The staff is slow, awkward and not very knowledgable. They forget things like drinks, serve the meals in an awkward manner and without everyone getting food at the same time and seem to be distracted even when the restaurant is not very busy.

Second, the food. Some is good. And some is fair. It simply does not rise to any great expectation. The portions are very small. For instance, the pork tenderloin wth tagliatelle is 3 small pieces. There are no vegetables. The chicken was the same, a small piece of meat and veggies under it. And the sablefish was a tiny (but well cooked) piece of fish.

The appetizers were a little better. Crabcakes a standout. Scallops small and acceptable and beet salad again, very small.

Desserts are very small portions and are not very creative for $9 each.

The wine list is not too impressive. Lots of BC wines but expensive and kind of ho-hum.

There are so many great restaurants in Victoria – Brasserie L’Ecole, Il Terrazo, Tapas Bar, Matisse, Cafe Brio – you can skip Lure and no miss anything. You get better value for money at these other restaurants and the service and food are vastly superior.
