Illegal discrimination against people with disabilities

A group of friends and I had heard that the buffet was very good, so we decided to have dinner here on Sunday night. Several of our group are disabled and use service dogs to get around—mostly guide dogs, plus one hearing dog. When we arrived, the hostess continually harangued those members for IDs and refused to seat us without them despite being shown (in the restaurant’s own copy, no less) the relevant section of the Americans with Disabilities Act that prohibits requiring IDs for service animals. We were made to wait for more than an hour while many other large parties were seated and we were repeatedly asked to wait outside in the heat (or illegally leave the dogs locked in our cars on a hot, sunny day, where they likely wouldn’t survive), despite the fact that we’d made a reservation and that the restaurant was nearly empty. Eventually, the police had to be called.
