So new and yet so good!

When finally The House opened last Wednesday, I was a little concerned about eating there only two days later (Friday night). Figured I’d give them a little latitude to get the kinks out. Well, no need for that!! Lovely small plates of specialty smoked and cured meats, only four main courses (of which we ordered two – the pork sausage, which was more like a mousse than a sausage, and the roasted halibut, which was lovely, moist and fragrant with white oak smoke). And two small but delicious desserts. We live in the neighborhood, but it’s well worth making the trip to Old Town. The only real fault is a lack of lighting in the front courtyard and the smokiness indoors (a result of the wood burning used to smoke and cure the meats). I’m sure both of those wrinkles will get ironed out. But as for the food and the wine selection? 5 Stars all the way. What a surprise this early in the game!

Just amazing – light, fluffy, Allspice! with a fig reduction. Wow!!
