Sang Kee Asian Bistro

 339 E Lancaster Ave
Wynnewood, PA

Popular neighborhood asian faire.

This is fast becoming our favorite restaurant for Friday night dinner. After a long week at work, it’s a nice treat to eat out, and not have to cook. Sangkee is a fabulous place to grab a meal or order take out.

The restuarant takes reservations, so make sure you do so. Otherwise you may have a 30-40 minute wait. If you arrive without a reservation, try getting a seat at the the counter which overlooks the wide open kitchen area. You probably will get seated within a few minutes.

The wait staff and hostesses are extremely friendly. The decor is Asian modern, and you are seated in one cavernous room, which on occasion can get quite loud. So, this may not be the place for a cozy dinner, unless you like eating late.

The food is served family style and the portions are large. Great for sharing, so order a few dishes and pass the plates around. The prices are reasonable, so come with an appetite!

Salmon in Black Bean Sauce

We love to order this dish. The salmon is grilled to perfection and the balck bean sauce is tasty without being overly salty. There is a a small amount of veggies, mostly asparagus, and the dish comes out of the kitchen on a sizzling plate. The portions are large and adequate for sharing. We pair this dish with brown rice, and chinese greens in oyster sauce. Yummy. For starters, try the crispy lobster roll, also large enough to share.

Stay Away

We had high hopes for this restaurant, since we live near by, and my wife loves French cuisine. After two visits to this establishment, we will not be gong back for a third time. Where do I begin? The receptionist was unfrendly, and was eating and drinking at her station. The wait staff is friendly but not very competent. The food is mediocore at best. The dining area was too noisy for a cozy or romantic evening. The food service from the kitchen is slow, with my entre taking over 45 minutes to arrive. I have had better bread on a Hoagie. My salald was uninspired. For a vegetarian, the menu is extremely limited. On the bright side, my wife did enjoy her main course, bouibaise, which is the “special” on Friday nights. The crepe we had for dessert was OK, but the portion too small. If you want a nice French meal, take the extra 15 minute drive into Center City,

Enjoyable, but we have had better.
