I’m so glad others have discovered and reviewed this hidden gem. This place deserves to be jam-packed, and I am disheartened when I find it so uncrowded most of the time.
Chavas Tacos does NOT look impressive from the outside, but its food is the best Mexican I’ve had in the city – yes, including fancy sit-down joints. The ingredients are fresh, the food is prepared fresh while you wait…the results are consistently delicious.
Oh, and it’s ridiculously cheap.
Try the barbacoa – it’s not spicy-hot, but very tender and extremely flavorful. Their chicken meat (for tacos and burritos) is tender, juicy, and lightly seasoned. Their pico de gallo is made fresh and they always give me a few extra containers to take home with me. Their breakfast burritos are very good also.
The staff are friendly and courteous.
Do yourself a favor and next time you want Mexican, skip the chains, and treat yourself to Chavas’ amazing food!!
