R.U.B. Hut

 307 N Main St
Manville, NJ

After klong search for a Smoked BBQ in NJ i found this little place in Manville. Graet amount of Smoke in the dining room waas a good thing for me I love the , Smoke. Service was good , The Server was friendly. The kichen is semi open , so i took a look in there and Chat with the head Chef? asked about how they smoke their Brisket. The resturant is BBQ place and has Mexican food . I only tried the smoked items and i rate them as good for NJ.

Spare Ribs

The Ribs had good flavor , Texas style , meaning no BBQ sauce dripping off of the ribs. there was a good crust on the ribs , product of smoking. it was a bit dry for me . however i will go back there for the BBQ , the Brisket , i did not like there was no smoke flavor there and very dry and stringggggy . for the side dishes i had ColeSlaw , it was Ok , and cream spineach , which was great. I will go back to the Grub Hut for the BBQ and the mexican dishes,

Big Ed's BBQ

 305 Rt-34
Matawan, NJ

The atmosphere at the restaurant was nice, There was a Foul Oder in the restaurant . Easy to to find location ,bathroom was ok , the Beer was cold.

Ribs and Brisket

must say there are vast differences between SMOKED and BBQ in our area. I went to Big Ed`s BBQ with a friend for lunch. I ordered the All You Can Eat Ribs selection , Quality of Brisket and Half Rack of ribs were very poor. Brisket was Dry and Very Thin Sliced to a point that the Edges were raveling and it was slobbered with BBQ sauce on top making the 4 slices underneath just as if the meat was boiled or roasted , despite having ample amount of FAT it was still dry. The Ribs looked good to look at , Charred end rib bones exposed , BBQ sauce on the top surface , but it was DRY . It seemed the Ribs were sitting under heat lamp for way too long and then it was basted with the BBQ sauce and delivered to the table The BBQ Sauce was tasty , i like sweeter Sauce and less vinegary , I will not visit this BBQ restaurant unless their BBQing method is vastly changed.

Smoked BBQ ???

I went to this resturant the day after Thanks giving, the Name and the building and the sign screams Texas smoked BBQ!!!! , well there is BBQ , more of Carolina style , NO SMOKE here , and NO Cole Slaw . Wow , well One for sure gets the Value for the meal , prices are very reasonable for the amount of, main dish ,and 2 side dishes must be mentioned, I had slad and cup of Chili , the Salad was very nice for a side dish , and the Chili was the best chili i have tasted out side of my own kichen.BRAVO all side dishes are home made no CANS here , as the water advised us. I had full rack of ribs , No cole slaw…did i mention that LOL, the ribs were OK , a bit dry on the ends, the Sauce on the rib was smokey type and good, The Shiner Bock Draft beer was very nice . I did have a conversation with the concerned manager who came to the table on his own to find out if all was ok , I advised him of my concerns regarding what i wrote here. service was very good , I recommand this resturant as i will visit them one more time for the hand cut pick your won Steak.

Ribs Full rack
