Friendly Place for Dynamite Lunch

Very small place with a big heart. Friendly people offer good service with a smile. I had heard about this place and today my wife and I drove north from Orcutt, California to check it out. It’s a tiny place and the inside fills up fast during lunch hour, but there are tables outside with plenty of spaces. Nice selection of cold beer and also generous sized soft drinks. There’s an extensive chalkboard menu just as you walk in the door (look to your left) and posters showing the special of the day are hard to miss. This is a “real food for real people” place with large rolls of paper towels placed on each table instead of napkins. You will appreciate the paper towels and the BBQ sauce can be a bit messy if you’re an eager eater, as I was. The restaurant’s parking lot is pretty small with only one spot for handicapped customers, but there is plenty of parking available on the street. This was definitely worth the trip and we will be going back. Leave your diet at home. :)

I wasn’t sure if we were supposed to bus our table so I watched one of the other customers and they did. It is not real clear about how to handle that so you might want to ask when you place your order.

This place is just a little bit out of the way but you can be at a table in less than five minutes after getting off Hwy. 101. Headed north from Santa Maria, cross the bridge at the north end of the city and then take exit #175. Take a left under Hwy. 101 and keep going straight for about 500 feet. The restaurant will be on your right – the building is a tan color.

BBQ Tri-Tip Sandwich at Rancho Nipomo Deli & BBQ

BBQ Tri-Tip Sandwich

This sandwich was to die for. Generous amounts of Tri-Tip served on a tasty warm roll with a side of BBQ sauce. The photo doesn’t do it justice as I savored every bite. The only thing that could have made it better would have been a side of cole slaw.

If Tri-Tip sandwiches aren’t your thing, don’t worry about it. There are lots of good things on the menu so there’s sure to be something there you will love.
