New and Interesting in Old Greenwich

Lunch at Palomino’s was quite an interesting one. While this restaurant is very new to the area it seems to exude great potential. The menu appeared to have no overall theme though it was easy to say it had a certain Spanish influence and flavor. It was certainly upscale both in food and service but certainly not overboard in pricing compared to the value. I was able to enjoy some fish n’ chips that was wonderfully crispy and served with a side of pickled mango relish as well as a spicy dijon mayonaise. Don’t let that one dish throw you off however, I just happen to be a fish n’ chips sort of guy. Their menu is not extensive but it does offer great variety. The best thing about lunch was the dessert (my favorite part of any meal). Along with my fellow diners we each shared a “spot hitting” dessert trio, which included a dulche de leche cheesecake, a bourbon pecan tart with a side of coffee ice cream, and finally a zesty key lime tart (a little bit grainy though). It was a very quick meal but indeed it was satisfying. Overall it was a pleasant place to eat and the food was pretty good, but not anything to go bananas over. Further, if I were to make one suggestion to any future patron, if you decide to dine around noon to 2pm, opt to not get seating under the sun roof, unless you enjoy tanning while indoors, while the rest of the restaurant enjoys their meal in the cool shade.
