I am literally trying to understand what Yelp and even the previous Google review was talking about. Were they delirious? Were they paid to do the review? Was it under different management? It had to have been. My favorite Chinese restaurant, Dong Sing, was closed for the evening, so the hubby and I thought we’d venture out to try a new takeout restaurant. The phone service was absolutely friendly and the waiter understood my requests. I was happy to hear that the food was even a little cheaper than Dong Sing. I ordered the almond chicken combo with white rice and two chicken egg rolls. When we went to pick up the order, just as on the phone, the server was pleasant and at first blush it looked like everything was going to be great. That is until we actually opened the box. I don’t know if the oil was bad tonight, if it’s just the end of the day and the owners didn’t give a fuck anymore…I don’t know. But, the food was fried too hard and the egg rolls were absolutely not for consumption. They were charred and the insides were dry. Still willing to believe that there would be something to salvage, especially because I was so hungry, I dipped my over-fried chicken into the clear gravy that came with it. The sauce was delicious, but that chicken…that chicken was just fucking disrespectful. I nearly choked on how dry it was and I was appalled that my dumb ass kept eating – I was so hungry, though. After a few more pieces of chicken, my stomach started to gurgle in that familiar “what-the-fuck-have-you-put-inside-of-me” kind of way. I responded by spitting out the rest of my chicken and spending the rest of my evening dealing with bubble guts.

Opening the box made me want to go back to the restaurant and whoop the cook’s ass. Violence isn’t the way. New Garden is serving old ass shit to its patrons. I’m disappointed and I won’t be back.
