Pleasant Surprise

Wow! I want to go back. I usually avoid anything that looks like corporate food. Turns out there are only four of these restaurants. I see there’s a plan to open a new one in Pasadena. Nice salad selection. We asked for one without onions and guess what – it came without onions! I had some weird dish which was described as seared ahi tuna and soba noodles. If I was in a Japanese restaurant, I would not have ordered this. I like my soba simple and my ahi uncooked. But for some reason, I was intrigued at Granville. And after the meal came. I was even more intrigued. There were lots of crunchy thinly cut vegetables in it that were delicious. There was a lovely dressing, that was served on the side, so I chose the amount of saturation. This unusual conglomeration of ingredients that I would never have thought should be served together was fantastic! Not just the flavors, but the freshness, consistency and crunch factor. I have never been interested in asian fusion food. But this dish pulled it off beautifully. The service was awesome. Everything came in perfectly timed waves and I was never left wanting. Now I have to admit, this was around 6 o’clock in the evening, which by the looks of the place is not their peak hours. In fact, the atmosphere is not really so wonderful. Lots of hard surfaces contributing to a cacophony of harsh echoes. A huge bar suggests their real intent is to serve drunk hipsters. Boring. But in the early evening, plenty of room, and no waiting, I really want to go back soon.

Mboning tried Tender Grill Cafe in San Fernando, liked it, and rated it . Mboning liked the food, liked the service, and liked the ambiance.

    Pros
The Greek salad is the bomb! Real romaine lettuce generously dressed with olives and feta. Kabob plates are as good as any in Glendale. Try the falafel, great seasoning! Non-pretentious menu served on paper plates for a fantastic value. The staff is frien
    Cons
Parking can be a little hard to find.
