South Congress Cafe

Very Noisey !!!
I had gone here a year or so ago, was anxious to visit again because of their very unique menu. Unfortunately, the good food was extremely overshadowed by the noise factor. It was very busy, but still they need to do something about the acoustics in that place. Sitting next to my date, we couldn’t hear each other at all. Made it a very bad experience. Will probably not return. :(

Birthday Dinner
The wait staff was very accommodating to our every growing group on a Sunday night. However, the food was not up to the standard I would expect of a restaurant of this grade. We all had the special of the night, The House Pork Chop. Now it was of incredible girth, but was extremely salty. One of our party returned it after just one bite due to that issue. He was offered a replacement, but by this time of night it was just too late. The bigger disappointment came when the bill arrived and he was not discounted the price in any way. Granted he did have dinner and dessert course. But I would have thought that a small amount of discount would have been appropriate.

Beautiful Potential
The hotel itself is lovely and very high end. The restaurant is in a nice location with a lovely patio overlooking the courtyard area. Once they get shops and activity in there, I am sure it will be a nice place to sip a glass of wine on their patio. Happy hour wine prices were very nice for such a posh place. We had a large party with a select menu. Food was good not great. Service was rather slow, mean it was a very long wait between courses and to get anything you asked for at the table. I will have to say the most concerning was that one of my party expressed dissatisfaction to the chef and was for lack of a better word, dismissed as not really mattering. Needless to say this was a very expensive location, I will most likely not be returning to.

Pizza disappointment
My first, and only visit to this restaurant started off on the wrong foot and went down from there. Wait staff was not pleasant, no happy hour choices. Wine was quite pricey for a strip mall establishment. The pizza prices were very high, and not a lot of options. Their menu was very limited. Then after dinner I got up and noticed the list of specials on a blackboard that no one mentioned. They looked better than the menu had to offer. And to top it off, the pizza was not good at all.
