ABC Donuts

I remember every Saturday morning I’d wake up and head straight to the kitchen to find a pink box of freshly made donuts just waiting to be eaten. Combine this with a cold glass of milk and your pick of Saturday morning cartoons and there was nowhere else I’d rather be. Although I never really had a favorite donut because they were all so damn tasty(and no, I’m not an fat guy who likes to eat everything) , I usually went for the ones with chocolate, be it the bread or the frosting. Up to a couple of years back though(2006-7), there hadn’t been any donuts because the shop was closed down to make room for the “Big Guys” like Gamestop, Subway, and Starbucks(?). I didn’t even know what became of the owner. Needless to say, Saturday mornings just didn’t feel complete after that. Well after a year or so(Early 2008), I was lucky enough to run into Sam(the owner) and found out that his shop was up and running elsewhere(The city of Downey) under the name of ABC Donuts(to clear things up, the shop he worked at prior to closing down was in the city of Norwalk). It was good to know that Sam’s business is still going strong, and that his donuts are as good as ever. After some catching up, I said I’d stop by his shop, which regretfully, I still haven’t done! So how can I even be reviewing a place I’ve physically never been to? Well, every so often Sam will stop by my workplace (to get pints of fresh milk, chocolate milk, both straight from the Norwalk Dairy, and nondairy coffee creamer)and give me a whole box of freshly made donuts, that’s right, a whole box! You just can’t find that sort of kindness and generosity in many people anymore, and I’m always thankful that I get the privilege of eating these donuts along with my family. Now I’m not slamming on Dunkin’ Donuts or Krispy Kreme, but I’ve made my choice. These donuts are a result of hard work and dedication. Well how hard is it to make donuts? I don’t have a clue, but what I do know is that Sam starts work at around 4:00AM. I know this because I got it directly from the source. So if you live in the city of Downey or just pasing by, stop by the next time you’re even remotely in the mood for donuts, you won’t regret it.
